Vented gas logs are designed to be installed in wood burning fireplaces where the chimney and fireplace are in sufficient condition to safely burn wood. Vented logs operate much like a real wood fire. Vented gas logs must be operated with the damper fully open on a wood-burning fireplace, either masonry with a flu and chimney or a prefabricated firebox with vent pipe.
